Their consensus must substantiate that one good recipe for chocolate chip cookies with the right semi-sweet morsels is all any cookbook or cook needs! Why mess around with spoiling perfection? Besides, a random comparison of Chocolate Chip cookie recipes revealed they all use the same ingredients, which are white flour, white and brown sugar, vanilla, butter or margarine, salt, baking soda, eggs, chocolate chips, and optional walnuts or pecans. Nestlé’s Tollhouse cookies call for real butter, real vanilla extract, and only Nestles' Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips. Substituting shortening, flavored shortening, or margarines for butter do alter the flavor and consistency. Most important is to never use milk chocolate chips or other semi-sweet chip brands.
