Potential job needs, may be a full or part time IT analyst, a trainer or two, maybe additional staff to supplement during the project and to enhance the learning curve of a new system. Each office has different needs.

Implementation of IT systems, small or large, involves the vendor and all the office and clinical staff. To make sure, all data on paper is entered correctly into the new electronic format an "insider" to guide the process is necessary.

Transforming patient care records opens opportunity for improvement.  For instance, GIGO, (garbage in, garbage out) describes perpetuating errors of a paper data system to the electronic world.

Doctor's offices begin a patient's medical history record and it is handwritten, usually.  You have heard the media attention regarding the illegible penmanship of most doctors. You probably experienced trying to read the writings too, well not for long!

Washington is committed and serious about physician's implementing an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in their practices. EMRs increase patient safety through legibility, accuracy and provide a complete story for every patient visit.

Finally, physicians can choose and implement an Electronic Medical Record system in their offices.  Under the leadership of Kathy Dahlkemper (D-Pa), Chair for the Small Business Act Committee, they amended H.R.3014 specifically for information technology at the small business level the category for Physicians’ offices in most cases.

Anyhow, to shorten the story, recently charged with handling the loans is none other than the Small Business Bureau. The amendment is very specific as to what an EMR should achieve for doctor, staff and patients. In addition, other "eligible" clinical professionals with small business practices are included.

Keep an eye out for some new job openings!
