Think Happy Be Happy

Think about happy, how often are you happy? Think about un-happy, how often are you un-happy?  Really apply your self to those questions.  Now, think about being with a group of cronies, is there lots of laughter? Does laughter assure happiness? Think about the laughter, was it derived from positive or negative talk as you socialized? Think about those questions, there are only five not the proverbial twenty.

Most likely an answer to the first two comes with hesitation. The next two, if you are honest, the laughter probably was sired by less than positive joking around. Researchers actually have realized negative thoughts and talk abounds over positive. Negative begets negative, ergo the cliches, “Wallowing in your own juices,” “Miserable is what miserable does,” and so on!  Creating happiness takes practice.

Thus enters a relatively new psychology branch, pleasantly termed, Positive Psychology. The focus is how fulfillment is achieved in normal life. Rest assured academics beginning with humanistic theories are solid in this new branch. Degrees in Positive Psychology are now being offered by at least two of Americas top Ivy League universities. Motivational speakers must be picking up on this topic as well. Outside the classroom, organizations, corporations, groups of all types are clamoring for this information. Individuals like you want more as well. We are tired of being miserable and bad attitudes.

Last questions, are fulfillment and happiness equal? Does fulfillment beget happiness? Does happiness have to be  present to obtain fulfillment?  Is this the chicken and egg principle? What do you think?
