Dreams That Sustain

"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of there dreams"

      -  Eleanor Roosevelt

Night time dreams are written about often, their meaning gets speculated and analyzed but those aren't the dreams that sustain us. They are the dreams organized by our marvelous capacity to store every incident and thought of life. During rest the subconscious conveniently resurrects what is stored, in no orderly fashion
Sustaining dreams are those we invent ourselves consciously. You have heard it said that everyone has dreams. Does everyone have sustaining dreams?  It seems unconscionable to not create dreams for anything imaginable. Do you dream? When you close your eyes and allow the mind to drift, what are your thoughts?  Does your self talk begin with, “I wish I” or “If I could only”, or “One of these days,” that’s it you are engaged with sustainable dreaming.  Add some conscious imagination and imagery and you are a dream maker.
People often describe the plan for getting from point A to point B as a dream initially. An example; when the little girl was twelve she began dreaming about California. Through the years she read and learned everything possible about the state. Every year her dream became more content rich and desire to really go there grew strength. By age twenty the young lady indeed had moved to the San Francisco Bay area and fulfilled many aspects her dream.
Take some time for day dreaming. Survey your conscious thoughts. Find and build on your most pleasant reoccurring thought. While it is still in your head it is a sustainable dream. It brings some comfort and pleasure when you are relaxed or perhaps you can recall it to sooth you during a rough time. Who knows it could be reality in the future if dreaming turns to wanting which turns to living your dream.
